Balham and Tooting Sports and Social Club The Story of 13 Men and 6 Women Caribbean Founders and Visionaries Our Humble Beginnings Founding Fathers Over 45 years ago, 13 determined men and their wives, with the support of the West Indian Community of the then named Balham and Tooting Sports and Social Club (BTSCC), founded what would become the longest standing 'West Indian Social Club in London. Established in 1970 by 18 bold members (13 men and 5 women), many of these founders were part of the original Windrush pioneers who had served in the RAF before making the UK their home. Today, the club remains a vibrant social hub for the Caribbean community and the wider Balham and Tooting area in South London. Founding Women The founding women were instrumental in establishing the foundation for the club's smooth and successful operation. Celebrating Our Legacy and Impact With roots steeped in the Windrush Generation of the 1950s and 60s, the club has been a beacon of community and support for over 50 years! Offering friendship, welfare, and social services to our aging community, we proudly remain a cornerstone of support, care and social interaction. Thanks to the unwavering dedication and vision of our founding women, the club continues to thrive as a cherished institution for generations..
