These remarkable women supported their husbands and partners in establishing what would become the longest standing 'West Indian' Social Club in London. Founded in 1970 by 18 trailblazing members (13 men and 5 women), many of these pioneers were part of the original Windrush generation who had served in the RAF before making the UK their home. Today, the club remains a vibrant social hub for the Caribbean community and the wider Balham and Tooting community in South London
